Driver Education
CHAPEL HILL - CARRBORO
Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools offers driver education classes to high school students through a private contractor, Jordan Driving School of the Carolinas (JDSC). Driver Education is considered an after-school activity at the end of the school day.
Once the student completes the classroom portion, they are required to complete 6-hours of Behind the Wheel (BTW) driving. Students will automatically be added to the driving log. Assignments for driving will be oldest to youngest and could take 2-3 months.
The NC DMV requirements for Driver Education are:
-
Student must be 14.5 yrs. Old by the first day of class
-
Must attend and complete the 30-hr. of classroom instruction
-
Complete the required DMV vision check
-
Complete 6-hrs. BTW (behind the wheel) driving instruction
-
Obtain NC Driver Eligibility form from attending school
If you have any questions or concerns about the program please see the contact list below. Your school’s Driver Education Coordinator can assist with most questions.
