​I. Craven County Drivers Ed Fee:

​​

There is a fee of $65.00 that must be paid to your student's high school after registering for the Driver Education course. For any questions regarding payment, contact their respective high school's Front Office.

• If your student attends Havelock High School, this fee can be paid in-person or online using this link: HHS Payment Portal​​

• If your student attends New Bern High School, this fee can be paid in-person or online using this link: NBHS Payment Portal

• If your student attends West Craven High School, this fee can be paid in person, or you can mail either a Money Order or Check to;

Payment of the $65.00 does not mean your student is registered for the class. You must submit the registration form to secure your student's seat.

II. NC Drivers Education Requirements:

​

• Student must be 14.5 yrs. old or older by the first day of class - No exceptions

• Students must complete the 30-hr. Classroom instruction

• Students must attend and pass the required DMV Vision Screening - Information will be provided during the class

• Student must complete the 6 hrs. Behind-the-Wheel (BTW) Driving Instruction

• Student must live within the Craven County School District

III. Eligibility Certificates:

​

Driver's Eligibility Certificates are ​valid for only 30 days before you will need to request another one. Please wait until you are close to going to NCDMV to test for your permit before requesting an Eligibility Certificate from your student's high school front office.

Be sure to bring the Driver's Education Certificate issued by your student's driving instructor with you, as the school will not issue the Eligibility Certificate without it.

IV. Things to Consider:

​

• At this time, all classes with Havelock and New Bern High Schools are held live over Zoom with mandatory attendance. If your student cannot commit 100% to class attendance and participation, they will need to register for a later class.

• At this time, classes with West Craven High School are held in a hybrid format with both in-person and live Zoom instruction. If your student cannot commit 100% to class attendance and participation, they will need to register for a later class

• Registration is first come - first serve due to limited seating. 

• Payment of the $65.00 is not the class registration. You must submit the registration form to secure your student's seat in the class.

• ​Registration is first-come, first-served with limited seating. The registration form will 'close' as soon as the maximum number of students have been registered; the link will be removed from this page once the class has been verified as 'full'.
