  • III. Things to Consider before Registering

  • IV. Upcoming Class Registrations

I. Eligibility Certificates:

Drivers Eligibility Certificates are valid for only 30 days before you will need to request another one. Please wait until you are close to going to NCDMV to test for your permit before requesting an Eligibility Certificate from your student's high school front office.

Be sure to bring the Drivers Education Certificate issued by your students Driving Instructor with you, as the school will not issue the Eligibility Certificate without it.

II. NC Drivers Education Requirements:

  • Student must be 14.5 yrs. old or older by the first day of class - No exceptions

  • Students must complete the 30-hr. Classroom instruction

  • Students must attend and pass the required DMV Vision Screening - The schedule will be provided during the class

  • Student must complete the 6-hrs. Behind-the-Wheel (BTW) Driving Instruction

  • Student must live within the Lenoir County School District

III. Things to Consider:

Athletes:

If your student is an athlete, it is to their advantage to take the earlier Summer classes, as most Fall/Winter sports begin practice in August.

Many of the sports have year-round workouts in the mornings, so please consider the afternoon classes. If they did not take the Summer classes, keep watch for a Winter Break or Spring Break class.

We will go over how to prepare for going to the DMV with you during your class.

If your student turns 18 before they are scheduled for their driving lessons, they will need to get their NC Permit before we can schedule them.
