​I. Driver's Ed Fee:

​

There is a fee of $65.00 that must be paid to Person County Schools before registering for the Driver Education course. For any questions regarding payment, contact the Central Office: 336-599-2191

• If your student attends a Person County School, this fee can be paid online using this link: Person County Payment Portal​​

• If your student attends either Homeschool, Charter, or Private School, payment must be made by Cash or Money Order at the Person County Central Office. The receptionist, Ms. Kathy Bumpass, will issue a receipt.​​

• A receipt number will be issued at the time of payment; this number is the approval code needed when registering your student.

Payment of the $65.00 does not mean your student is registered for the class. You must submit the registration form to secure your student's seat.

II. NC Driver's Education Requirements:

 

• Student must be 14.5 yrs. old by the first day of class - No exceptions

• Must complete the 30-hr. Classroom Instruction

• Must attend and pass the required DMV Vision Screening - Information will be provided during the class

• Complete the 6-hr Behind-the-Wheel Driving Instruction

• Student must live within the PCSNC School District

III. Eligibility Certificates:

Drivers Eligibility Certificates are ​valid for only 30 days before you will need to request another one. Wait until you are close to going to NCDMV to test for your student's permit before requesting an Eligibility Certificate from their high school front office.

Be sure to bring the Drivers Education Certificate issued by your student's driving instructor with you, as the school will not issue the Eligibility Certificate without it.

IV. Things to Consider:

 

• At this time, all classes are held live over Zoom with mandatory attendance. If your student cannot commit 100% to class attendance and participation, they will need to register for a later class.

• Registration is first come - first serve due to limited seating. Classes are capped at 35 students each. 

• Payment of the $65.00 is not the class registration. You must submit the registration form to secure your student's seat in the class.

• ​Registration is first-come, first-served with limited seating. The registration form will 'close' as soon as 35 students have been registered; the link will be removed from this page once the class has been verified as 'full'.

• Students & Parents will receive a confirmation email within 5-10 days of the registration form closing and the link being removed from this page.
